Jeans&Towels and Borse e cose Flagship

The Borse e Cose and Jeans&Towels flagship store opened its doors in Helsinki on the 25th of August 2023. Spearheaded by Creative Director Samu-Jussi Koski, who gained international recognition for founding pioneering fashion label Samuji as well as his longstanding career at Finnish icon Marimekko, the space presents the two new brands and their universes, as well as a carefully curated collection of visiting brands and artists.

A Space for New Brands and Handpicked Collections

The space introduces both the urban and confident world of Borse e Cose with its meticulously designed leather bags and woollen scarves as well as the nostalgia-infused universe of Jeans&Towels, characterised by all-gender jeans and accessories fit for a life spent basking in the sun. Both brands are focused on providing high-quality items made from sustainable fabrics and designed to withstand the test of time and trends. Aligning with the brands’ ethos of consciousness and quality, the store also provides an on-site sewing service for tailoring the jeans’ inseam length.

“We believe in mindful consumption and items that fit their wearer, which is why we decided to incorporate tailoring into the store concept,” explains Samu-Jussi Koski, “For us, providing a meaningful retail experience is about highly personalised service.”

While serving as a flagship store for Borse e Cose and Jeans&Towels, the space will also feature an ever-evolving collection of brands and artists, handpicked by Koski and his team.

A Vision of Tomorrow’s ‘Department Store’

The store’s design itself embodies a contemporary mindset while showcasing the distinctive styles of the two new brands – a combination of angular urbanity and aesthetic freedom. Vintage furniture sourced from esteemed auction houses around the Nordics, natural stone, warm woods, and eccentric highlight pieces like well-worn wooden vitrines and unique marble pillars, make the space feel as if you were entering a collector’s archive.

Finnish craftsman Ville Aakula’s bespoke carpentry, crafted utilising repurposed safety glass, complements painter Inka Bell’s artwork, all showcasing a dedication to sourcing handpicked pieces that almost magically fit together.

According to Koski who designed the retail space, “The space is designed to be a vision of a contemporary department store – a place where you can take your time to touch, feel and experience fashion, art and design while truly embracing the story behind each piece.”
