The opportunity to create textile patterns perfectly suited Samu-Jussi Koski, who describes himself as “forever curious.”
“What inspires me most in this work is newness,” he explains. “I’m driven by the desire to experience new things and to create something truly unique. Yet my goal remains constant — I consciously avoid following trends, focusing instead on designing beautiful, everyday objects that people can genuinely use and feel good about.”
Samu-Jussi’s love for his hometown, Helsinki, became the foundation for the collection he designed for Lapuan Kankurit. The series serves both as an ode to the city and as an interpretation of its essence. The patterns — Töölö, Merihaaka, Kaapelitehdas, and Hietsu — are named after meaningful districts and neighborhoods, each playfully exploring the proportions and architecture of the city so dear to him.
