In a former storefront in Punavuori, light floods through tall windows into Maria Veitola’s calm and personal studio — designed together with her friend Samu-Jussi Koski. “Samu always comes up with brilliant ideas, like covering an ugly bathroom door with a mirror. Now it looks as if the room goes on forever,” Maria laughs.
Soft tones of linen, burgundy and deep blue create a timeless atmosphere where ideas can unfold. “When I’m alone here, I sit on the windowsill, lean against the burgundy frame and write. From there, you can see all of Punavuori’s life,” she says. “We wanted a space that lasts — a bit classic,
a bit playful. Like being at a wedding every day,” Koski adds.
Each morning begins with a quiet ritual — keys in a bowl, a candle lit, and thoughts settling into place.
